Threads Re-used – Waste Not Want Not

A note from the Group

” Our group has been in existence for about fifteen years and we got together through our shared interest in rag rugs and its recycling possibilities, after attending workshops in the Oxford area and beyond. We meet once a month on a Saturday at The Old School, Cumnor, which is a village just to the west of the city. The creative textile work we enjoy making is based upon the traditional rag rug techniques of hooking, prodding and braiding, but sometimes we expand our techniques to include knitting and fabric collage. Our aim is to make both decorative and functional items, to include rugs, mats, wall hangings, bags, cushions, fabric pictures and baskets by using recycled threads, string, wool and fabric whenever possible, pieces that have had an earlier life. This will be our fourth group exhibition and we are keen to show how these pre-loved items can be re-worked and transformed from “rags to riches”.”

There will be inspiring displays and literally thousands of fabrics and yarns to shop.
