Description
Stack n Whack
10.00am – 4.00pm
Skill level: All levels.
Our favourite workshop of all! Working with fabric repeats, just cutting them differently to give fabulous results.
Stack n Whack is an easy way to create quilt blocks with unique kaleidoscope designs. These designs require a set of identical pieces cut from a print fabric. Rather than finding and cutting each piece individually, cut and layer a number of large, identical print rectangles to make a stack. The outcome is always stunning and often a surprise!
Suggestions of fabrics that you might want to use for your Stack n Whack project are shown here.
Please bring with you
- Fabric for your blocks, we can help you choose to purchase on the day. You will require 6 repeated patterns in a row so if your fabric pattern repeat is, for example 20” apart, it is going to require more fabric than a pattern repeat of a 9”. Printing across the width of fabric may not always be identical, so make sure that you have at least 6 repeats in meterage.
- 1metre of background fabric to complement
- Cutting board, rotary cutter and ruler
- recommended – NL4173: Quilting Triangle Ruler: 60 Degree 12 x 13.875 inch
- your sewing machine and instruction manual
- a notebook and pen
- Best Press
- Wonder Clips
- 1/4″ Masking tape
- basic sewing supplies – thread, pins, scissors, hand and machine needles, unpicker
Please ensure that you are familiar with your sewing machine and arrive to class with your sewing machine threaded, and “ready to go” as this will save you lots of time on the day. If you are not familiar with your sewing machine, why not book a one-to-one session prior to your workshop.
Additional Notes
Coffee and tea will be available prior to the start of the class, and during. You will have an opportunity to look around our Warehouse and purchase fabric and supplies prior to the class, during and even afterwards.
Car parking is available at the warehouse. Please park in our car park at the bottom of the warehouse rather than along the length of the building to allow disabled access and space for delivery vehicles
Remember to bring a packed lunch with you with a cool bag, if required. Alternatively Subway, Greggs and Tesco’s are all close by.
