Enter the colourful, often quirky, and always innovative world of Tula Pink – illustrator, fabric designer, quilter and author.
Tula graduated from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, and worked briefly as a museum exhibit designer in Southern California, where she grew up. When that became too quiet she switched to the music industry, leaving California and going in search of a new home. Now based just outside Kansas City, Missouri, she lives in a house that used to be a barn and still sort of looks like one!
Her designs show her dark sense of humour, a flair for hiding animals in the strangest of places in her designs and her bold, unique use of colour and pattern, her collections being designed to work together, as well as standing alone. She comes from the ‘more is more’ school of design, where there’s never enough space and always room for one last thing, making both her fabrics and the quilts made from them constantly fascinating – and always surprising.
