Description

Bright Weave: Quilts in an English Village, designed by Liza Prior Lucy

Skill level: Intermediate

Bright Weave is a variation of a pattern called African Weave that Kaffe and Liza first made in soft colours in “Passionate Patchwork”. This version features the newest bright-coloured Shot Cottons and Stripes woven in India.

Price is per Fabric Pack. Instructions to complete the Quilt can be found in the book Quilts in an English Village by Kaffe Fassett.

All fabrics included as 100% cotton and can be washed at 30 degrees.

This quilt is constructed ‘on point’ with squares and hourglass blocks, surrounded by an edging of striped setting triangles. The squares are all cut from striped fabrics, arranged so as to appear to weave throughout.

Top tip: When piecing the quilt top, do not try to line up the stripes – it looks much better if not – nor try to place each of the Shot Cotton colours exactly as in the original. Make sure the darker shades are in the upper right and lower left of the ‘on point’ squares.

The instructions in the book provide clear guidance on constructing triangles, as well as advice on the joining of strips to create the perfect finish.

Once the quilt top is completed, layer up and quilt as desired. You may like to quilt using a free motion weave design to complement the quilt top.

SIZE OF FINISHED QUILT: Approx. 64in x 64in (163cm x 163cm).

Suggested Backing Fabric: ORANGES Blue GP177BL: 4yd (3.7m)

Suggested Wadding: 72in x 72in (183cm x 183cm)

Please note that where fabrics are unavailable or discontinued, in order to compile the pack, ‘intelligent’ substitutions will be made. These will be as close as possible in design and colour tone to the original so as not to change the overall concept of the project.
