Alterations Workshop: Advanced Garment Adjustments
This hands-on workshop is designed for sewing lovers with prior experience who want to refine their skills in garment alterations. The class is structured to introduce you to essential alteration techniques, including how to pin a garment on a person, prepare the item, and carry out professional adjustments. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of garment construction while practicing practical skills.
What you’ll learn:
• Hems & Darts: Different hemming techniques (hand and machine), creating and adjusting darts, taking garments in or out where possible
• Key Alterations Covered:
◦ Taking in a waist
◦ Tapering sides
◦ Shortening sleeves or cuffs
◦ Shortening hems
◦ Lifting shoulders
◦ Zip replacement
Course outcomes: By the end of the workshop, you will confidently alter your own clothes—or those of others—achieving professional-looking results that enhance fit, style, and garment longevity.
