Giucy Giuce Fabric
Growing up in Long Island, New York, Giuseppe Ribaudo (AKA Giucy Giuce) spent much of his childhood with his grandmother, while his parents were running their restaurant – and it was his nonna who taught him to sew. He says her teaching was ‘in the Sicilian fashion, which is to say she would show me how to do something and I would have approximately 10 seconds to demonstrate that I had learned it perfectly before she’d abruptly pick me up and sew the seam herself!’
In 2008 he took up quilting and has never looked back, launching his first fabric collection in 2018, and his tenth, Nonna, in 2021 as a tribute to his grandmother and her home where he learned to sew.
Now living in Portland, Maine, he continues to work as a fabric designer and quilt instructor.
