JC260 Albert Quilt Pattern by Janet Clare

JC260 Albert Quilt Pattern by Janet Clare is a striking quilt design using two tones of patterned fabrics, indigo and cream, and traditional patchwork blocks and techniques to create a wonderful geometric cloth.

‘‘Albert’ and her quilt sister ‘Victoria’ were inspired by a visit to ‘The fabric of India’ exhibition at the V&A where I encountered a beautiful double woven cotton cloth called Khes which follows a grid system. The cloths are often woven by mothers for their daughters as part of a dowry, and compared to the daughter and the love the mother has for her and is thus symbolically infused with life. I love the idea that a stitched cloth embodies love and life and how quilts are also passed from generation to generation.’ – Janet Clare

With detailed instructions to guide you through the block construction and piecing, the pattern also includes lovely colour photographs, making it suitable for novice and experienced stitchers alike. A detailed layout diagram shows the exact arrangement of fabrics and lots of supporting photographs, mean you can confidently re-create my design. The pattern includes a blank colouring sheet so you can test your favorite fabric colours and create your own version.

The finished quilt measures 74 x 74 inches.
