Perfect Seams and Hems Workshop with Renata Rimke

Build strong foundations in garment construction and fabric finishing in this practical, skill-building workshop. Designed for makers with some sewing experience, this hands-on class focuses on essential hem types, seam finishes, and professional detailing techniques you can apply to a wide range of sewing projects.
You’ll learn how to create turned, blind, and narrow hems, understanding when and why to use each for different fabrics and garments. The workshop also covers key seam finishes, including zigzag, French, and overlocked seams, helping you achieve durable, neat, and professional results inside and out.
Alongside construction techniques, you’ll practise topstitching and pressing methods, learning how these finishing details elevate the overall look and longevity of your work.

Renata Rimke brings a wealth of expertise and creativity to her workshops, backed by a strong background in fashion design and couture dressmaking. She has an in-depth understanding of garment design and construction, and her work is guided by the principles of craftsmanship, precision, and elegance.
As both a Couture Dressmaker and an experienced Sewing Instructor, Renata takes students through the entire dressmaking journey — from developing a unique design to sewing the final seam. Her classes focus on refined techniques, attention to detail, and building the confidence to create truly bespoke garments.
Whether you’re a beginner dreaming of making your own clothes or an experienced sewer wanting to refine your skills, Renata’s warm, encouraging teaching style and couture-level knowledge make her workshops both inspiring and transformative.
To help you make the most of your workshop time, please ensure that you are familiar with your sewing machine and arrive with it threaded and ready to go. This will save valuable time at the start of the session and allow you to get stuck into sewing straight away!

Please remember to bring a packed lunch with you. A cool bag is recommended if needed.

Workshop Cancellations by Us:
In exceptional circumstances, we may need to cancel a workshop or event. If this happens, we will:
Offer you an alternative date where possible, securing your place in the class
Provide as much notice as possible, with cancellations made no later than 48 hours before the scheduled workshop
If no alternative date is suitable, we will refund you in full

We are unable to reimburse any additional costs you may have incurred to attend, such as travel, accommodation, or materials purchased independently.
