Morris Muse celebrates the unsung women of Arts and Crafts design. William Morris and fellows valued female associates as models, lovers, and muses – inspiration for male artistic creation. Morris’s wife, Jane Burden Morris earned no fame for her talents, yet she and daughter May were artists in their own right, designing, stitching, and overseeing masterpieces of Morris needlework. Despite late-century conventions that kept them behind the scenes, women in Arts and Crafts circles were true design partners. Prints in Morris Muse Collection continue innovations in natural patterns with rich reds and colour complements echoing interior fashion and the women’s personal style.
