You can select your desired stitch and adjust the stitch width and length using the touch screen. Combine or change decorative stitches and save them to use again. The Sewing Consultant gives assistance with individual settings. Simply select your fabric and the application and the machine will set the stitch and make suggestions for all other settings. The included Freearm Slide-on Table creates an even larger support surface and space around the needle. The direct selection of buttons allow quick access to functions such as needle stop up/down, stitch width, pattern end or securing a seam.

The Bernina Walking Foot comes with 3 soles and 2 seam guides and is excellent at coping with challenging fabrics. It is especially well suited to machine quilting and sewing “sticky” materials as well as really helping to match stripes and plaids accurately.

The knee operated presser foot lifter – sometimes referred to as the Free-Hand System (FHS) – is a classic Bernina feature. It not only raises the presser foot to its maximum height, but releases the upper tension and lowers the feed dog which leaves you with both hands free to guide your project. This is always a useful tool, but especially so when working with flimsy fabrics or large heavy pieces that need both hands to position and guide them accurately.
