Using a design wall will help to place patches in the required layout. The layout is clearly shown in the book, Quilts in an English Village and is easy to follow. It is the placing of the squares that draws the eye and makes this a stunning quilt. Once the quilt top is completed, layer up and quilt as desired. For a beginner you may like to “quilt in the ditch”, or even in a square design within each square.
